The Footsteps That Paved My Path – Footstep 11

Watching a movie one day I was hit with this sentence: “It’s better to be dead alive than to be alive dead.” This footstep, though it belongs to a person who passed away years ago, it will remain carved on my path for my lifetime.
Though he was my great uncle, he was nearly my mother’s age, which made me consider him like a father to me. Every time I think of him I feel his warmth embracing me. He was one of a kind in the way he greeted me. Every single time we met he would welcome me with all his face smiling, open his arms widely and hug me tightly. With him I always felt secured and loved. He did this with me, my sisters and all our family members. He was great family man who is still alive in our hearts.
Though his action might appear simple yet it was a profound action of love. Just knowing that we had a family gathering in which I will meet him, I felt joyful knowing that there was one person who would speak to me in the love language of affection and doing it genuinely. I knew that there was one person who would embrace me, accept me and love me unconditionally whether I had got bad grades or good ones, whether I was overweight or not and whether I looked pretty or not. He was a messenger of love and his spirit is still enlightening my path.
